The bill aiming to hold fossil fuel companies responsible for their contribution to climate change has been approved by the Vermont House of Representatives. This legislation grants the state of Vermont the authority to take legal action against these companies, with the intention of holding them accountable for the environmental harm caused by climate change-induced extreme weather events. On Monday afternoon, the bill successfully passed the House with a vote of 94-34. However, skeptics argue that this proposal is contradictory, highlighting that we have all reaped the benefits of oil and gas production, which has also played a role in the development of green technology.

Massachusetts authorities reported that a man died after a bear pulled him from his vehicle following a car crash. Conflicting reports emerged about the bear’s involvement, leading to the removal of the initial report by the Massachusetts State Police. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Ducharme, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. According to a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson, the vehicle veered off I-91 in Hatfield Mass around 11 a.m. Sunday after the driver lost control. Ducharme was ejected from the vehicle and then dragged by a bear, as per the initial state police report. Police mentioned that a bear was spotted near the crash site, indicating contact with the victim’s body. The bear left the area before first responders arrived. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with uncertainty about whether Ducharme died from the crash or the bear attack. Police suggested that Ducharme likely died in the crash.
