WTSA NEWS FOR TUESDAY APRIL 23rd 2024

The three-dimensional word "news"

A judge has determined that a man from New Hampshire who was found guilty of murdering his 5-year-old daughter must be physically present for his upcoming sentencing, as he failed to attend his trial. Adam Montgomery, aged 34, did participate in the initial day of jury selection in February, but did not show up for the duration of the two-week trial. Authorities suspect that his daughter, Harmony Montgomery, was killed almost two years prior to her reported disappearance in 2021. Unfortunately, her body has never been located. Montgomery’s attorney recently requested his client’s exemption from the scheduled sentencing on May 9 in Manchester, arguing that Montgomery has consistently maintained his innocence regarding the charges of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and witness tampering. However, Montgomery did confess to abusing a corpse and fabricating evidence.

On Saturday night at around 10 p.m., state troopers from the
Westminster Barracks said they received a call from the owners of
Harlow’s Sugar House in Putney, saying a man was actively trying to
break into the building. According to VSP, the store owners were able
to detain the man until Troopers arrived on the scene. The suspect
was identified as 41-year-old Jason Moul of Brattleboro. Moul was
arrested and issued a citation to appear in the Windham Criminal
Division of Vermont Superior Court on June 25.

Brittany Janaszak, 39, of Brattleboro, has been charged with multiple offenses by allegedly flinging dog feces on her neighbor’s lawn. She is being charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, trespass, simple assault, unlawful mischief, unauthorized use of a vehicle, aggravated disorderly conduct, unlawful trespass, obstructing vehicle or pedestrian traffic, and simple assault of a police officer. Janaszak violated a no-contact order, and engaged in various acts of resistance during her arrest.

Vermont State Police say they’ve received reports of sightings in the
last week of a missing man whom they’ve been told may be in crisis.
Troopers say Michael Plunkett, 35 has also been using social media
since he disappeared. However, there’s no indication of where he is
now. Authorities also didn’t say when or where the reported sightings
of him took place. Police have asked for help in locating Plunkett since
Friday, April 12. He has no fixed address, and he’s likely in either
Chittenden County or Franklin County. Plunkett is believed to be
driving a black 2015 Jeep Renegade with the Vermont registration
HTT830. VSP asks anyone who might be able to offer any leads to call
the St. Albans barracks at (802) 524-5993.
