The Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport saw record
numbers of people for the total solar eclipse last week. On April 8, the
airport saw more than 700 takeoffs and landings throughout the day,
with no deviations or incidents. On a typical day at the airport,
controllers see about 300. The airport’s director of aviation, Nic
Longo, applauded the collaborative efforts between the various teams
at the airport for the day’s success.

 

Police arrested Thomas LaPine, 37, of St. Albans in connection with an alleged RV arson. LaPine was cited for the incident that occurred in January, where a suspicious fire involving an RV led to a nearby home being burglarized. Identified as the suspect by the homeowner, LaPine resisted arrest and assaulted both the officer and homeowner. He was released on the burglary charge but has now been cited for arson as well. LaPine is scheduled to appear in court in May.

 

A teenager was arrested on Friday for multiple homicides in New York and Vermont. The 16-year-old was apprehended in Enosburgh as part of a joint state and federal operation. Authorities revealed that the teen is a suspect in a New York City murder and is also linked to two homicide cases in Burlington from the previous year. The teenager’s identity has not been disclosed by the police.

Police in Berlin are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a child cruelty incident on Ames Drive. The driver, described as a white man around 5′10″, allegedly threw a child from a pickup truck before driving away. The truck, a gray four-door vehicle with Vermont plates and Dallas Cowboys stickers, is of interest to authorities. Anyone with information is urged to contact Berlin police at 802-223-4401.

Vermont State Police are searching for Michael Plunkett, a man who has been missing for over 48 hours. Plunkett, 35, is driving a black 2015 Jeep Renegade with Vermont registration HTT830. He is believed to be in either Chittenden County or Franklin County, but there is no information on when or where he was last seen. Although his disappearance is not considered suspicious, investigators are concerned for his well-being and are asking anyone with information to contact the St. Albans barracks at (802) 524-5993.

Rob Gronkowski, the ex-New England Patriots player, made a grand entrance at Fenway Park on Monday. Instead of a regular first pitch, he chose to do his signature Gronk football spike, adding excitement to the Patriots’ Day game. The Guardians triumphed over the Red Sox with a resounding 6-0 victory. Redsox play game 2 of their 4 game set tonight at 7:10 first pitch.

Three Red Sox defenders chased after a ball hit to shallow left field in yesterday’s game. Devers and O’Neill heads collided while both calling for the ball. They were able to leave the field on their own, but O’Neill had to be substituted due to the collision. O’Neill received eight stitches and entered concussion protocol, according to multiple reports.
