We’ll get new covid 19 information later today. Vermont  New Hampshire and Massachusetts did not release any new information on Monday.. Late Sunday, the Vermont department of health said a record 115 people are hospitalized with the virus. To date, over 90 thousand people have tested positive since March of 2020.

Brattleboro select board members will get a look at the final details of next years proposed municipal budget when they meet tonight. If the Board agrees to using  $249,000 in Unassigned Fund Balance, for capitol projects, it could safely accommodate both costs and still come in with a budget that has a lower tax increase at 2.6% than in each of the last five years. Vermont Governor Phil Scott will deliver his budget message to the legislature this afternoon. A big question is how an expected 90 million dollar state budget surplus will be used. . At least one statehouse watcher has predicted the governor will use some of the money to lower school taxes, and ask that lawmakers not pass any new taxes or fees.

A task force created to review domestic violence cases in New Hampshire’s court system is holding its first hearing this Friday. The hearing will be at the state Supreme Court building in Concord from 1 to 4 p.m. to field input from the public as the task force considers recommendations on subjects for review.  The task force was formed last year as the judicial branch reviewed the case of a woman who was shot, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, a month after a judge denied her request for a permanent protective order.
