Seven new Covid 19 positive tests were reported Friday, for a total of 1,731 with 58 deaths. There were no changes in Windham County, with 123 cases and 3 deaths.

New Hampshire health officials Friday reported 44 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a total of 8,085 with 438 deaths. In Cheshire County, 143 positive tests and 3 deaths.

454 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts, bringing the total number of confirmed cases statewide to 127,317.There are 10 new deaths reported for a total of 9,160 .There was one new case in Franklin  county for a total of 406, while deaths remain at 68. 

A Rutland man was taken to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a crash on interstate 91 near exit four on Friday Vermont state police say 28-year old Nicholas Miller was driving south when his car left the road and hit a tree. The operator and two occupants were injured. With both passengers taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

Brattleboro police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on upper Dummerston road on Tuesday. 38-year old Courtney Girouard’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The vehicle continued through some brush where it rolled, ejecting the operator. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Vermont Health Commissioner Mark Levine says it’s time to get a flu shot; Levine says is unknown if having the flu would make you more susceptible to Covid 19, but the combination could overtax the state health care system. The Health Department has ordered more flu vaccine than usual to prepare for the increased demand and is working closely with providers in getting their patients vaccinated. They are encouraging community partnerships to provide clinics where access may be limited, like at schools, community centers or assisted living facilities. Get your flu shot through your doctor’s office, your local pharmacy, or look for a clinic near you. If you don’t have insurance, reach out to your local health office.

Air quality will be slightly reduced today in Vermont. The state air quality division says levels of fine particulate matter will be in the low-moderate range in Vermont on Saturday, Wood smoke from western wildfires will still be present in the region.

Southbound traffic was tied up on interstate 91 near exit four in Putney on Friday by a roll-over accident. Traffic was partially reopened about 90 minutes after the 4 P M crash. Initial reports claimed a motorist was trapped inside their vehicle after the crash.

The Vermont legislature has given final approval to a budget for the remaining 9m months of the fiscal year. Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman says the legislature appropriated much needed bridge funding for higher learning, $32 million for the state colleges, $10 million for UVM and $10 million for private colleges. They also supported K-12 education by providing $103 million in funding. 50 million was provided for hazard pay for frontline workers who worked so hard to keep the rest of us comfortable and safe during the most difficult first months of the pandemic. Almost 150,000 Vermonters will be affected by the appropriations.

Jayson Tatum scored 31 points, and Jaylen Brown had 28 in leading the Celtics to Game 5 win over Miami Friday night 121-108. The Celtics avoided elimination with the win, and now trail Miami 3 games to 2. Game 6 is Sunday night, tip-off is at 7:30.

The Red Sox lose to Atlanta Friday night, 8-7. Freddie Freeman of the Braves hit a game winning, 2-run homer in the 11th. Boston and Atlanta play tonight, first pitch is at 7:10.  

The Marlins clinched an improbable playoff berth in their coronavirus-decimated season, beating the New York Yankees 4-3 in 10 innings Friday night to seal a postseason trip on the field of the team that Miami CEO Derek Jeter and manager Don Mattingly used to play for. Miami and New York play this afternoon, first pitch is at 1;10.
