Three new positive tests for Covid 19 in Vermont, for a total of 1131. There were no new cases in Windham County. Deaths remain at 55, with 12 people hospitalized.

27 new Covid 19 cases in New Hampshire, including two new positive tests in Cheshire County and a total of 5,364. There were 6 additional deaths and a total of 326. 82 people are in the hospital.

Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce, working with the General Assembly, Vermont League of Cities and Towns and the Vermont Bankers Association, has launched the Municipal Emergency Statewide Education Property Tax Borrowing Program to assist municipalities as they manage their finances and cash flow needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on eligibility, the program will cover interest incurred for short-term borrowings that were made for the purpose of managing the cash flow effects of statewide education property tax deferrals and delays as a direct result of COVID-19. Vermont’s Working Lands businesses, the Working Lands Enterprise Board has announced that 16 businesses will receive over $250,000 in COVID-19 Response Business Development Grants within the sectors of agriculture and forestry. These awards will focus on business response, shifting marketing strategies, or other activities that may improve business recovery. Parish Hill Creamery of Putney will receive 21 hundred dollars. Governor Phil Scott says “Vermont’s agricultural and forestry businesses are critical to our future. Getting grants quickly to these companies will help Vermont’s economy to recover and grow as well as help feed Vermonters.  

 The Town of Brattleboro will resume Parking Enforcement operations on July 1, 2020. Parking meters and kiosks will once again require payment for parking in the downtown. This includes all regulated surface parking lots and all on-street metered parking spaces. Parking enforcement was halted on March 17, in response to Covid-19. Now that Vermont is beginning to reopen for business, it is time to resume regular parking enforcement activities. To protect the public health, all meter and kiosk push buttons will receive a regular wipe down two times each day, Monday through Saturday, to disinfect the frequently touched surfaces.    Permits purchased for the fourth quarter of FY2020 will be honored for the first quarter of FY2021

The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles  has partnered with the Department of Disabilities, Aging & Independent Living  and Vermont State Police  to create visor cards to help people who are deaf or hard of hearing communicate with law enforcement officers if they are pulled over while driving. Vermonters can now obtain the visor cards through the DMV, and VSP has given a visor card to every state trooper. To obtain a visor card, please complete the online contact form on the DMV website and type a request for a visor card in the message box.

After months of work, the NBA released its health and safety protocol for the resumption of the 2019-20 season on Tuesday. It covers the teams’ ramp-up over the next several weeks in their home markets, the onboarding of every team upon arrival at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and the guidelines for how the season will restart. Over 100 pages long, the protocol is a monster document that details everything from what happens in the event of a positive COVID-19 test to the rules for playing ping pong in players’ lounges at team hotels.
