Open enrollment is now underway for Vermonters looking to sign up for
Vermont Health Connect. It started on Saturday. Vermonters can sign up for or
change their qualified health and dental plans for 2026. The state says it’s best
to sign up by Dec. 15 to ensure coverage on Jan. 1. For those who sign up after
Dec. 15, coverage will start on Feb. 1. Open enrollment ends Jan. 15. You can

enrollment.
The Brattleboro Select board has approved a plan to develop a new section of the Connecticut River trail. The project aims to create about a one-mile walking path from downtown to a railroad bridge that was abandoned in 1983. Construction is anticipated to be complete by next spring.
Southern Vermont orchards and vegetable farms, including Dutton Farm Stand in Brattleboro, have started fundraising campaigns to support their Jamaican seasonal workers whose homes and farms were severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa last week.
The Brattleboro Select board is in the initial stages of discussing potential changes to the town’s solid waste services, including a possible transition to an automated recycling system with town-provided carts and a review of the “Pay As You Throw” (PAYT) bag pricing structure. The proposed changes aim to reduce overall costs.
As winter approaches, a community-led initiative is working to establish a new overnight shelter. A free “Soup Supper” is scheduled for Thursday, November 6, at the Beloved Community Church, offering a chance for residents to learn about the project and how to offer support.
The Brattleboro Department of Public Works has announced that Williston Street will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, November 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. The closure is necessary to complete repairs to a failed storm water structure, and motorists are advised to plan alternate routes.
The Theatre Adventure Thursday Troupe is performing its adaptation of the classic folktale “Stone Soup” this week at the West Village Meeting House. Performances are scheduled for today, November 5, and Thursday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m., with a final performance on Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m
