Four individuals died in a small plane crash in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. The Vermont State Police reported that a privately owned Piper aircraft was discovered in a wooded area near Basin Harbor Airport early Monday morning. The victims, identified as Paul Pelletier, 55, Frank Rodriquez, 88, Susan Van Ness, 51, and Delilah Van Ness, 15, all from Connecticut, had traveled to Ferrisburgh for brunch on Sunday. They departed the restaurant shortly before noon for their return flight, which was last seen on the runway at 12:15 p.m. but never arrived back in Connecticut. There were no distress signals or prior reports of a crash.
Vermont State Police say one person is dead and another injured after
a single-car crash on Interstate 89 northbound on Saturday. Police say
around 5:34 a.m. they were dispatched to a crash near mile marker
26.2 in Bethel. When first responders arrived, they found a 2004
Toyota Tundra crashed into a tree in the median. Police say Lindsay
Holt, 41, Plainfield, died at the scene. Another person in the truck,
Justin Jeror, 45, Enfield, New Hampshire, was taken to Gifford Medical
Center with minor injuries.
The general election on November 5th is approaching in less than two months. For registered voters eager to participate sooner, early voting will commence as soon as ballots are available. According to Seán Sheehan, Director of Elections, the Vermont Secretary of State’s Office is currently mailing absentee ballots to all active registered voters. Ballots for overseas and uniformed voters will be dispatched first, in batches from September 9th to September 21st, while ballots for other registered voters will be sent between September 23rd and October 1st.
A West Glover woman is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face an attempted murder charge. Vermont State Police reported that early Saturday morning, Jordan Labounty, 35, of Lyndon Center, claimed he was shot at outside a West Glover residence. Investigators found that Labounty was involved in a verbal altercation with Alaina Bouchard, 35, at her home. As he was leaving, Bouchard allegedly fired at him, damaging his car but causing no injuries. She was held without bail and arraigned earlier on charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities stated that this incident was isolated and posed no threat to the public.
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu intervened on Sunday when contestant Christian Moreno began choking at the Hampton Beach Lobster Roll Eating Competition. Moreno signaled for help by tapping his chest as he struggled to breathe. Sununu quickly administered four or five compressions until first responders arrived to assist. Sununu remarked on the chaotic scene, noting that once Moreno’s airway was clear, he resumed eating immediately.
