VTrans paving project continues, shifts to day work. A Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) paving project is continuing in Brattleboro.  Crews are working on bridge joints between Vermont Avenue and Noah’s Lane. In the coming weeks, the active work zone will shift from overnight to daytime hours, moving north on U.S. Route 5 toward Putney.

 

Selectboard to discuss new bike path. The Brattleboro Selectboard has scheduled a meeting for October 21 to discuss several items, including plans for a new pedestrian and bicycle path along the Connecticut River. The board will also hear annual updates from local economic development and community organizations.

 

Outdoor defibrillator installed at Living Memorial Park. The town of Brattleboro has installed its first publicly accessible outdoor automated external defibrillator (AED) at Living Memorial Park. The life-saving device is located outside the entrance of the Nelson Withington Skating Facility and was donated by the Brattleboro Senior Corp..

 

State Treasurer to hold ‘Vermont Saves’ event. Vermont State Treasurer Mike Pieciak is scheduled to visit Brattleboro on October 21 to discuss the “Vermont Saves” program. The event at Brooks Memorial Library is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the state’s retirement savings initiative.

 

The town seeks volunteers for committees. The Town of Brattleboro is looking for residents to volunteer on several local committees and boards. The town released a press release on October 16 to attract candidates for the ADA Committee, Conservation Commission, and Development Review Board, among others.
