A woman was trapped in a vehicle that was on its side, and it took around 40 minutes to extricate her, according to the fire department. Two individuals were transported to the hospital, while an adult and a child were flown to hospitals in the Boston area, as reported by authorities. The injuries varied from minor to life-threatening, according to the fire department. Senator Peter Welch Joins Bipartisan Legislation Challenging Trump’s Tariffs on Brazil in filing bipartisan legislation to challenge President Trump’s tariffs on billions of dollars of goods from Brazil. The tariffs were illegally imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The Senators’ legislation would terminate the July 30 emergency declaration and eliminate the tariffs on Brazilian imports implemented as a result.  Americans import more than $40 billion worth of goods annually from Brazil, including nearly $2 billion worth of coffee, a product that cannot be grown in most of the United States. Trade between the U.S. and Brazil supports nearly 130,000 jobs in the U.S., and the U.S. has a trade surplus with Brazil. A trade war with Brazil would raise costs for Americans, harm both the American and Brazilian economies, and drive Brazil closer to China.

Governor Phil Scott, along with the Department of Health, has announced today the measures implemented to guarantee that all residents of Vermont can access COVID-19 vaccines via primary care providers and pharmacies throughout the state. In order to facilitate this, the Department of Health has released a standing order that permits the administration of the vaccine in accordance with recommendations from national medical associations. With the recent updates to the guidance on vaccine administration, this order will allow pharmacies to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to Vermonters who opt to receive it, similar to the practices of previous years.
