Water main break repairs are complete in Keene NH, and the system has been brought up to pressure. (Water Street remains closed.) A first round of water quality tests has been collected from around the city. This is a 24-hour test, and NH DES requires a second round of samples to confirm water quality after the initial test. Due to testing requirements, the boil-water advisory will remain in effect until at least midday Saturday. This applies to all Keene and North Swanzey Water Precinct customers. The boil-water advisory is precautionary, and consumption of water should not resume until the advisory is lifted.

A federal judge in New Hampshire heard arguments on Thursday on whether to certify a class-action lawsuit that would include every baby affected by President Donald Trump’s restrictions on birthright citizenship. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of a pregnant woman, two parents and their infants, is among numerous cases challenging Trump’s January order denying citizenship to those born to parents living in the U.S. illegally or temporarily. Represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and others, the plaintiffs are seeking to have their case certified as a class action and to block implementation of the order while litigation continues.
Addiction and the journey to recovery are currently in focus in Brattleboro, where a new documentary will be screened this Sunday, resonating with local experiences. Like many towns, Brattleboro faces challenges related to addiction. However, the possibility of recovery is being showcased on the big screen. This documentary tells the story of four individuals from Worcester, Massachusetts, who are committed to their lifelong recovery journey. Lisa Olivieri, a documentary filmmaker from Boston, emphasizes that achieving sobriety is merely the initial step. The documentary, titled “Recovery City,” is being sponsored by Turning Point of Windham County and will be presented in downtown Brattleboro this weekend. A significant aspect of the narrative features recovery coaches—individuals who have undergone recovery themselves and are now assisting others in their healing process. The film will be screened at the Latchis Theatre this Sunday at 4 p.m. While a donation is suggested, attendance is free for all interested parties. Following the screening, there will be a question-and-answer session.
