WTSA NEWS FOR THURSDAY JULY 10th 2025

Authorities have announced the resolution of a 50-year-old case. Police have identified a woman discovered deceased in New Hampshire during the 1970s as Nancy Gale Erickson, a young woman who vanished from Vermont. The unidentified woman’s body was located off Route 124 in Marlborough, New Hampshire, in April 1974. On Wednesday, authorities confirmed her identity as Erickson. Investigators report that she was 21 years old when she went missing from Brattleboro in 1973 and was never heard from again. Her family officially reported her missing to the Brattleboro police in 2021. Forensic analysis linked DNA from the body found in New Hampshire to Erickson’s siblings. Investigators are seeking information from anyone who interacted with Nancy Erickson in the 1970s and encourage individuals to reach out to the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit Tip Line at 800-525-5555.

A Vermont trooper was left with minor injuries after he crashed his cruiser early Tuesday morning. Police say it happened at about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 89 northbound in Berlin. Investigators say during heavy rain, Sgt. Benjamin Katz hydroplaned and crashed his cruiser. They say the car was significantly damaged and Katz suffered minor injuries.

A man from New Hampshire, who received a sentence for his involvement in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, has stated that he will decline President Trump’s pardon. Jason Riddle, a veteran of the Navy, expressed that he does not wish to accept it, as he believes he caused harm to others that day and merits his 90-day prison sentence. Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire has verified that her office is collaborating with him to officially reject the presidential pardon. Riddle entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 90 days in jail along with three years of probation.

A serious accident involving a car and a motorcycle occurred at the Winchester Street roundabout, resulting in one individual being airlifted to the hospital on Monday morning. The incident took place shortly before 10 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Route 101, as both vehicles were exiting the roundabout. According to a news release from the Keene police, the vehicles—a 2020 Mercedes sedan and a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle—were both traveling east at that time. The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Teagan Cairns from Keene, sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Cheshire Medical Center before being airlifted for further treatment, as stated in the release. The driver of the car, 40-year-old Crystal Doolan from Plymouth, Massachusetts, was also taken to the hospital. A male passenger in the Mercedes did not sustain any injuries.
