WTSA NEWS FOR THURSDAY JULY 3rd 2025

On Monday afternoon, shortly after 3 PM, the Vermont State Police received a report of a family disturbance in Halifax, Windham County, VT. Upon investigation, it was found that Kevin Harris (60) of Halifax had  inflicted pain and/or bodily harm on a family or household member. Harris was arrested and taken to the Wilmington Police Department for processing. He was subsequently released with Court-ordered conditions of release and appeared in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Wednesday to answer the charges.

Time ran out on Tuesday for nearly 400 medically vulnerable households who depend on the state-subsidized hotel-motel program for housing. Governor Phil Scott earlier this spring issued an executive order keeping some medically vulnerable people sheltered in the program and waived their eligible nights from April until July 1. It’s the latest rollback of a program that was primarily aimed at cold-weather emergency shelter, to one that housed thousands during the pandemic. Since the loss of federal funding, the Scott administration and lawmakers have been looking for ways to curtail the costly program and focus the funds on permanent housing solutions.

Vermont fire departments are expanding access to a potentially lifesaving resource. Eight cyanide poisoning treatment kits will be placed in fire departments across the state, adding to the three existing kits. The Cyanokits provide quick treatment in the field, which is essential to saving lives in fires and industrial accidents. Cyanide is used in certain building materials and is toxic if inhaled.

A 19-year-old man from Athens, Aiden Euber, was arrested by the Vermont State Police on multiple charges following a disturbance on Monday night. He faces charges of aggravated domestic assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, and criminal threatening after police responded to a disturbance report at 10:28 p.m. The investigation indicated that Euber had committed these offenses. He was taken to the Westminster Barracks and subsequently lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility with a bail set at $5,000. Euber appeared in the Windham Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court on Monday. The name of the victim has not been disclosed.

North Star Health Center is building three new pharmacies at its locations in Londonderry, Springfield, and Charlestown, New Hampshire. The federally- qualified health center says it comes as many local pharmacies have closed their doors, leaving patients with few options to fill prescriptions close to home. Construction starts this summer, and all three pharmacies are expected to open next year.

The Windsor Diner hit the road to a new location on Main Street on Wednesday. Main Street was closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday between State Street and the 802 Credit Union for the move. A crane moved the diner about 650 feet farther south down Main Street.
