An increasing number of homes are available in the Green Mountains. The Vermont Association of Realtors reports a 30% rise in single-family homes entering the market over the past 13 months. However, many find these homes unaffordable. The current market presents a mixed situation. Experts indicate that while there are more single-family homes for sale, prices remain elevated, with the average home value rising by 8.8 percent since last year. According to the state’s recent housing needs assessment, Vermont requires between 24,000 and 36,000 additional homes in the upcoming years to satisfy demand, tackle vacancy rates and homelessness, and replace homes that have been damaged.
