A Windham man, Imran Alrai, age 51, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison and one year of supervised release for defrauding the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. Convicted of 12 counts of wire fraud and 6 counts of money laundering, he was ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution. Alrai exploited his position at the non-profit, fabricating invoices and services from a fictitious contractor, resulting in approximately $6.7 million in fraudulent payments between 2012 and 2018. Following the discovery of the fraud in June 2018, he was terminated and federal agents seized incriminating evidence and $2.2 million in fraud proceeds. The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI, with assistance from the IRS.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court will not review a legal challenge regarding the constitutionality of life-without-parole sentences. This pertains to Robert Tulloch, who, at 17, was convicted for the 2001 murders of two Dartmouth College professors. His accomplice, James Parker, was paroled last spring.
