A former Dartmouth student, Ellie Curtis, tragically died in a ski accident at Palisades Tahoe, California, over the weekend. Reports indicate she suffered a head injury, and despite the ski patrol’s efforts, she did not survive. The 25-year-old was a prominent skier on the Dartmouth alpine racing team and a graduate of Green Mountain Valley School.
Four juveniles have been linked to a fire at the Spare Time Bowling Alley in Colchester on Friday night around 11:45 p.m. The building was evacuated after a fire alarm sounded and smoke was detected. The fire suppression system contained the blaze to one room, and no injuries were reported. Colchester Police identified the four juveniles from Barre on Saturday, with two facing arson charges. Their names are not being released.
Cheshire County EMS, the county’s ambulance service, announced a partnership with a Peterborough training company to provide certification courses in emergency response. Through the Cheshire Regional EMS Academy, in collaboration with Scott Symonds of Next Generation Responder Development Services, residents of the Monadnock Region can enroll in courses to become Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, or Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. The academy will also offer professional development for local EMS providers, along with public CPR and first-aid training. Chief Mark Kreamer has highlighted the importance of education in Cheshire EMS since his appointment in March.
President Donald Trump and former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu have had their disagreements, but Trump has pledged to “fully” support Sununu if he decides to run for the U.S. Senate in 2026. Trump noted that Sununu recently visited him in the Oval Office to discuss the Senate seat and remarked that, despite their past differences, “He’s been very nice to me over the last year or so.” Sununu is being considered as a potential candidate for the Senate seat following WMUR’s report that Senator Jeanne Shaheen will not seek reelection.
On April 6, 2025, at around 6:22 PM, David S. Fowler was apprehended after law enforcement observed his vehicle exceeding the speed limit by traveling at 111 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 91, near mile marker 23.8 north. Following the incident, David was issued a citation and released at the scene, with a requirement to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division, at a future date. Additionally, he received a traffic ticket for the civil speeding infraction.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) will hold a press conference today, April 8, at 3pm with food service and airport workers to introduce the Raise the Wage Act. This legislation aims to raise the minimum wage to $17 over five years for all workers, eliminate sub-minimum wages for tipped workers, workers with disabilities, and youth, thereby promoting a living wage, economic growth, and reducing income inequality.

On Friday, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a disturbance on Canal St. Following their investigation, Destiny Knapp, Robin Davis-Philips, and Melony Miesch were arrested. Knapp faced charges of Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Davis-Philips was charged with Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Aggravated Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Miesch was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction of Justice. All three were taken to the BPD, where Knapp received a citation and was released, while Davis-Philips was held on $1,000 bail. Knapp and Davis-Philips appeared in Windham County Superior Court yesterday, and Miesch is scheduled for May 20th.
