WTSA NEWS FOR MONDAY MARCH 10th 2025

UPDATE: Vermont State Police have identified the victims of a Saturday morning crash on I-91 in Rockingham that resulted in two fatalities and two injuries. The driver, 39-year-old Taylor Binnington from North Haven, CT, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Hyundai SUV collided with a fuel tanker truck. His wife, 36-year-old Evelyn Lake, was a rear-seat passenger, while their 4-month-old son, Parry Lake, was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Evelyn and their three-year-old son were taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that multiple northbound vehicles experienced minor incidents due to poor road conditions and low visibility from snow. The fuel tanker had stopped because of the preceding crashes, and the Hyundai was unable to halt in the slippery conditions, resulting in the rear-end collision.

A recount has been requested for the Windham Southeast School district seat elected in Guilford. Jocelyn Fritts received 1,128 votes, while Kelly Young garnered 1,100. ** The total vote tallies are reported in a “commingled” manner, as per 16 V.S.A. § 741(3). “The articles of agreement as initially approved by the voters on or before July 1, 2019 explicitly provide that the board of civil authority of each town within the unified union school district shall count Australian ballots cast in that town and report that town’s results to the district clerk, who shall calculate total votes cast within the unified union school district and report the result of the vote to the public.” **
