Following new information from the Keene Police Department about
the whereabouts of a wanted individual in Vermont, the Vermont
Drug Task Force arrested William S. Bostwick, 42, of Keene, NH, on
Thursday in Putney. Bostwick had two active warrants for his arrest
issued by the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal
Division. After being taken into custody, law enforcement searched
the hotel room where Bostwick was staying and found additional
amounts of cocaine. He now faces additional charges of possession of
cocaine, more than one ounce, and a violation of court-ordered
conditions of release. The Vermont State Police would like to thank
the Keene and Brattleboro police departments for their assistance in
this investigation.
Advocates and lawmakers are trying to ensure everyone can have a
roof over their heads. The Housing Access for Immigrant Families
proposal aims to make sure no one faces discrimination when looking
for a home. Migrant Justice says undocumented and asylum-seeking
families are often discriminated against when seeking housing
because of their immigration status. The proposed bill would add
citizenship and immigration status as a protected class under the
Vermont Fair Housing Act. It would also ban landlords from requiring
a Social Security number to apply or sign a rental agreement. Instead,
they can accept any form of government-issued ID. Migrant Justice,
other advocates, and lawmakers gathered at the Statehouse earlier
this morning (Fri.) to introduce the proposal.
Police are asking the public for help finding a Vermont man wanted
on multiple charges. Vermont state police say Todd Thompson, 48, of
Shaftsbury, faces six felony charges, including aggravated sexual
assault, stalking and domestic assault. Troopers say the charges stem
from an incident last month. Police have not been able to find
Thompson. They say he is known to have ties to Shaftsbury,
Bennington and the White Creek, New York, area. Anyone with
information on where to find Thompson is asked to call the state
police in Shaftsbury at 802-442-5421.
Conservation activists in Vermont on Saturday will protest against a
logging project coming to the Green Mountain National Forest. The
Telephone Gap Integrated Research Project was outlined in plans for
the Telephone Gap area, which was initially approved in December
and is in a final objection period until Jan. 17. The Telephone Gap is
between Pittsfield and Chittenden. According to the activist group
Standing Trees, the U.S. Forest Service plans to log 11,000 acres of
healthy forests despite many public comments opposing the plan.
Saturday, state and Indigenous leaders will rally at the Green
Mountain National Forest headquarters on Route 4 in Mendon from
noon to 1 p.m. to oppose the plan.

Zimmer, 20, an acquaintance of the victim. Both individuals are
residents of Jamaica. Zimmer was subsequently cited to appear in the

A Vermont documentary filmmaker is touring the state with a labor of
love that has been over half a century in the making. “Far Out: Life On
& After the Commune” traces the story of both filmmaker Charles
Light and a group of friends as they leave the city to set up two
organic farming communes in southern Vermont and Western
Massachusetts in the late ‘60s. The film examines their lives and their
pivotal role in creating the nation’s no anti-nuclear movement.
