A source indicated that a son is in custody for allegedly killing his parents, and it was the suspect who called 911. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved are accounted for and there is no public threat.
Gov. Phil Scott has appointed Steven Brown Jr. as the chief prosecutor for Windham County, as announced in a press release on Friday. Brown served 17 years as a deputy state’s attorney before becoming interim state’s attorney following Tracy Shriver’s retirement in July. One man is dead and two individuals are in custody following a shooting in Rutland on Friday night. Security footage shows the victim, 32-year-old Christopher Hale, arriving at a home on Elm St. around 7:00 PM, where he knocks on the door without showing signs of distress. Shortly after, multiple gunshots are heard, and the alleged shooter flees as Hale is pulled inside the house. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Authorities have arrested 28-year-old Dylin Wainscott of Westfield, MA, charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Narcotic, and 18-year-old Precious Okorie of Springfield, MA, charged with Conspiracy and Accessory Before the Fact. Both are being held without bail pending arraignment today.
On Friday at approximately 1 a.m., Brattleboro Police responded to a report of an assault and robbery at 9 Canal St. Investigation revealed that Ariya Sweeney had attacked a woman and stolen her belongings. Later that evening, Sweeney was apprehended after attempting to flee, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest. Sweeney is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on November 18, 2024, facing charges including Assault and Robbery, Aggravated Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.
