Progress in an upgrade project at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. According to a photo posted on social media, the hospital’s Operating Room and Sterile Processing supplies and equipment were moved from the old space to the new space in the Ronald Read Pavilion. The new surgical area is named for a man who donated the bulk of his multi-million-dollar estate to B M H.
The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting today at 9:30am in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. The Board is expected to immediately enter into executive session to discuss the appointment or employment or evaluation of a public officer or employee. The Board will reconvene after the executive session and immediately adjourn. No action will be taken.
A Brattleboro man was charged with drunk driving after an accident on Interstate 91 early Sunday. Just before one A M. state police say 42-year-old Jonathan Keane allegedly operated a vehicle that crashed in the median near mile marker two. Keane was released until an October 18 court appearance.
New campaign finance reports have been filed by Vermont’s statewide candidates. In the race for governor, incumbent Republican Phil Scott has raised $155, thousand so far, including $35, thousand in the last month. Democratic challenger Brenda Siegel’s campaign reports that she has raised $149, thousand so far, including a large increase in the last month, with just under $46,000 raised.
Law enforcement officials are warning the public to watch out for scammers pretending to be deputy sheriffs. The Windsor Police say they’ve received several calls from residents about a caller claiming to be a member of the County Sheriff’s Department. Police say the caller claims the person failed to appear for jury duty, or that there is an active arrest warrant. The caller tells the victim that they can avoid arrest by making a payment or purchasing a pre-paid credit card. Police say scammers may use real addresses and real names of officers or court officials to seem more credible. The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department they would never call someone for that reason, or demand money. Police say it’s also important to never give out your credit card number, or any other personal information to somebody you don’t know.

An unexpected debut for rookie Quarterback Bailey Zappe almost turned into a win for the Patriots on Sunday. Green Bay hung on for a 27-24 overtime win, thanks to a coupe of Aaron Rodgers touchdown passes. Patriots starter Brian Hoyer was knocked from the game in the 1st quarter.
No homers last night for Aaron Judge as the Yankees lost to Baltimore, 3-1. The Yankees are in Texas tonight, Luis Severino on the mound for New York, first pitch is at 7:05.
Toronto won their 9th straight against Boston on Sunday, 6-3. Boston hosts Tampa Bay tonight, Rich Hill on the mound for Boston, first pitch is at 7:10.
