No covid deaths reported over the weekend in Vermont. There were 802 new cases reported over the weekend. 13 new cases were reported in Windham County. New Hampshire reported no deaths, a total of 920 cases over the weekend, there were 40 new cases reported in Cheshire County. Massachusetts reporting 10 deaths, 5,443 new cases, with one death and 53 new cases reported in Franklin County.

A Plymouth Vermont man was arrested in Brattleboro on Sunday on multiple charges. 32-year-old Dale Clement was allegedly involved in a disturbance at an Elliot Street address. Police say Clement allegedly smashed a window on a door to an apartment building and caused damage to a vehicle. Clement was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. During processing, Clement spit blood in an officer’s face. The court was contacted, and Clement was ordered held in lieu of $200 bail and was arraigned on Monday.

Putney residents are electing two new select board members today. Two candidates are running for a two-year seat, and four are seeking a single year term. The election is the result of a town meeting vote to expand the select board from three members to five. Voting takes place at the fire station from 10am-7pm.

A new poll shows a tight race in the Democratic primary for Vermont’s lone congressional seat. In the University of New Hampshire survey out Monday, Becca Balint leads the way. The Vermont Senate president pro tem has support from 28% of respondents. Lt. Gov. Molly Gray is next at 21%, followed closely by state senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale at 19%. The largest response is in the don’t know-undecided choice at 31%. There’s still some time for voters to decide; the Vermont primary is in August.

A man who voted in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the 2016 general election has been ordered to pay nearly $5,000 in fines and penalties. Todd Krysiak, 39, was charged in June 2019 and pleaded guilty Friday to voting in more than one state. He was given a 90-day suspended sentence and ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, plus a $960 penalty. According to prosecutors, he cast ballots in both Alton, New Hampshire, and Leominster, Massachusetts, on Nov. 6, 2016. Krysiak was registered as a Republican in Alton, according to the 2016 voter checklist.

Vermont lawmakers are entering the home stretch of the legislative session, but several sticking points remain on big policy items, including a $7 billion state spending plan. House and Senate lawmakers this week will reconcile the differences in their budgets before sending a final spending plan to Vermont Gov. Phil Scott. The House and Senate budgets focus on programmatic needs and address ongoing social service and mental health needs from the pandemic. Governor Scott’s proposal leans heavily on workforce development, economic development and brick-and-mortar infrastructure.

The Celtics broke out the brooms last night and swept the Brooklyn Nets in their playoff series by beating the Nets last night, 116-112. Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston, despite fouling out, Tatum had 29 points.

Bo Bichette had a Grand Slam to lead Toronto past the Red Sox yesterday, 6-2. The teams play again tonight, Nick Pivetta on the mound for Boston, first pitch is at 7:05.

The Yankees had an off day yesterday, they host Baltimore tonight, first pitch is at 7:05.
