Brattleboro police say scam artists are using the Covid-19 pandemic as a way to separate you and your money. via the US mail, e-mail, or phone calls. People should not provide or confirm personal information over the phone to someone that has called you. To complicate matters further, our current pandemic does provide some situations where a government official may call to ask and confirm information, such as a contact tracer from the Department of Health. If you get such a call, confirm the person’s name and tell them you will call back. Then get the phone number from a different source.

All Brattleboro parks and outdoor facilities are open to Vermont Residents (and to those who have quarantined according to the Vermont Health Department Guidelines). Getting outside, while physically distancing, is not only allowed, it’s encouraged. As people continue to gather in parks, and as most people are doing so carefully, we welcome people getting outside but want to ensure that they are doing so safely. Please follow posted signs that reaffirm social distancing measures in parks and playgrounds. Additionally, we ask that you only recreate with those from your household.

Killington Mountain greeted skiers and riders for the first time this year, but coronavirus precautions will make the resort look a lot different than years past. Day one at Killington is an annual tradition for diehard skiers. In the year 2020, everyone is navigating through uncharted waters. From the signs on the access road, to the roadblock for parking reservations, to the outdoor ticket windows, to the contact tracing scans on the way into the lodge — pretty much every aspect of the business has been tweaked. Day one is just for pass holders, but everyone hitting the slopes needs to sign an affidavit attesting to the fact they are following Vermont’s COVID-19 guidelines. Masks are also required, and the ski resort has plenty of people spreading safety rules.
