Vermont State Police Sunday reported several bomb threats to various critical infrastructure and key resource sectors in the State of Vermont. The threats are received via email and are sent from various accounts originating from @skiff.com. Affected groups are encouraged to report these incidents to local law enforcement in their area. No suspicious items or authentic threats have been discovered at this time. State Police encourage Vermonters to alert law enforcement if:
- If you see a package, backpack or any other item left unattended.
- If you witness someone taking pictures of infrastructure items, access points, or other security related activities.
- If you witness the same car and/or person parked in a sensitive location.
- If you see behavior that strikes you as odd or out-of-place.
Vermont’s U S senators are applauding the budget resolution passed late Saturday., which temporarily stopped a government shutdown, Senator Bernie Sanders is pleased that programs working families desperately need were not cut and , there was a good increase in funds for disaster relief which will help Vermonters rebuild from July’s flooding. Senator Peter Welch is disappointed a continuing budget resolution did not provide Ukraine the funding it needs to push back against Putin’s unjust invasion . He’s urging both chambers to work together on supplemental funding for Ukraine.
A Londonderry Vermont resident faces a number of charges related to a pre dawn traffic stop Sunday . .At about 240 am , Vermont State Police- received a report of a Domestic Assault on Route 100 in Londonderry,. Further investigation of the incident resulted in the arrest of 47 year old Harvey Parker for 1st Degree Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Domestic Assault. Parker was issued a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on 10/02/2023 at 1230 hours.
A Brattleboro man was taken into custody in several outstanding warrant late Friday. Police went to a residence on Windward Drive in search of Michael Nauceder . Officers made contact with Nauceder and in the process of taking him into custody, the Brattleboro man picked up a knife and brandished it at the officers. Officers were able to convince Nauceder to put the knife down and he was taken into custody without further incident. Nauceder was held in lieu of the bail amount and is set to appear at the Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division today.
Crews will continue to pave the final wearing course of pavement in Brattleboro and progress north along VT 30. The paving operation will cover approximately 1.75 miles of roadway. Two crews will continue to install guardrail in Dummerston, approaching the Newfane town line. Crews will be working just off the shoulder of VT 30, installing new posts for signage. Berm removal, topsoil, and curb work will also take place. All work is weather-dependent.
The Nature Conservancy in Vermont has hired Eve Frankel as State Director. Frankel has been hired to succeed Heather Furman, who was promoted to lead The Nature Conservancy’s Appalachians Program following ten years in Vermont. Frankel has over 20 years of leadership experience in the renewable energy and nonprofit sectors. She joined The Nature Conservancy in 2014 , and most recently, served as the Vermont Chapter’s Deputy Director.
