53 new Covid 19 cases were reported in Vermont Wednesday, with 5 new positive tests in Windham County included. In New Hampshire, 1 death and 198 new Covid 19 cases, with 18 new positive tests in Cheshire county. In Massachusetts, 5 deaths and 718 new cases, with 3 in Franklin County.

 

The Vermont Health Department says another walk in covid 19  vaccination clinic is being held in Brattleboro today, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in the Richards building from  10 until 2. 50 doses of the

Pfizer vaccine will be available. The Health department says many people, especially younger Vermonters, may simply be waiting for a convenient moment to get their COVID-19 vaccination. To help make it as easy as possible, they are arranging for more walk-in opportunities. Other clinic s are scheduled today in Colchester , Essex Junction and Windsor.

 

 

Brattleboro firefighters were able to limit damage from a barn fire at 795  Bonnyvale Road Wednesday morning. Chief Leonard Howard says the first crews on the scene found smoke coming from an 80 by 40 foot story and  a half barn. A fire in the loft area was quickly extinguished. The barn sustained minor damage, and the owners were able to return animals to the structure. Five area towns provided on the scene assistance with tanker trucks. An Investigation found the cause was electrical

 

Vermont Governor Phil Scott has signed a bill that keeps defendants from using a victims sexual identity as a defense. Scott says  Republicans, Democrats and Progressives alike sent a message to Vermonters, that your identity should never be an excuse for someone to cause you harm. According to the Governor, the  effort is a step in the right direction, but there is still more work to do to ensure all Vermonters, regardless of identity, feel safe and protected .

 

The Connecticut River Conservancy is continuing a series of virtual meetings on the proposed relicensing of dams along the Connecticut River . According to the group, Once the dams are relicensed, the facilities will be in place for the next 30-50 years and impact more than 175 miles of the Connecticut River.  Virtual Coffeehouses have been scheduled in each of the next three months.
