The Vermont Health Department says it’s more important than ever to get your flu shot this year – when flu viruses and the new coronavirus are spreading at the same time. Because some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, it may be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone, and testing may be needed to help confirm a diagnosis. Anyone older than 6 months old (with rare exceptions) — and especially people in a high-risk group or who have underlying health conditions — should get their flu vaccine.

Vermont’s Department of Public Safety will receive $1,1 million dollars from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help support state expenses related to COVID-19. This grant is funded through FEMA’s Public Assistance Grant program which reimburses communities for actions taken in the immediate response and during recovery from a disaster. Eligible applicants include states, federally recognized tribal governments, U.S. territories, local governments, and certain private non-profit organizations. To date, FEMA has obligated more than $13.6 million to Vermont under the Public Assistance program.

Vermont  Senator Bernie Sanders  says President Trump was not telling the truth, in saying  that it is inappropriate and illegal to count ballots after Election Day,  According to Sanders, election officials across the country accept ballots well after Election Day every year, and results are not certified until the votes are counted and a canvas to confirm the results is conducted. More than twenty states, including states like Mississippi, Kansas, and Utah, require ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted even if they are received after Election Day. The best defense against those trying to undermine our democracy is the resolve of the American people, who are voting by the millions
