The Southern Vermont Economy zone has released a new list of 70 projects, and six have been labeled critical. According to the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, the list includes extending a Massachusetts passenger rail expansion into Vermont, developing the Deerfield Valley region, Redeveloping the Putnam Block in Bennington, marketing and workforce development plans in Windham County, and a village water and wastewater assessment top the list. The items were unveiled during a conference held at Mount Snow Thursday.

 

A potential case of measles exposure in the Keene area turned out not to be the case. New Hampshire’s Department of Health and Human services says additional laboratory test results suggest that the patient’s symptoms were due a reaction from the measles vaccine, and there is no at risk to the public. The state department says serious or extensive reactions that resemble a real measles virus infection, are very rare.  

 

The Vermont Attorney General’s office has reached a settlement with the New England Municipal Resource Center over data security problems in its municipal management software. This software is used by every city and town in Vermont. To resolve allegations that its lack of data security violated the Vermont Consumer Protection Act, NEMRC has agreed to improve many of its business practices, like developing an Information Security Program and enhancing employee training on security. NEMRC will also pay a penalty of $30,000.

 

This advisory from the Keene Public Works Department. Liberty Utilities will be replacing a gas main that will require North Street between Elm Street and Carroll Street to be closed today.  Traffic will be detoured around the work area via Carroll Street, Spruce Street, and Elm Street. You are asked to avoid the area if possible as delays are likely to occur.

 

More than 150 Vermont artists’ and crafts people’s studios will be open to the public this Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26. It’s all part of the Memorial Day Open Studio Weekend sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council. To see a complete map, go to vermont crafts dot com. Ryan Weber pitched six innings to earn his first career win as a starter, Steve Pearce homered and had three RBI and the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-2 on Thursday. Boston visits Houston tonight, Chris Sale on the mound for Boston, first pitch is at 8:10.

 

Mychal Givens walked Aaron Hicks with the bases loaded to force in the tiebreaking run in the ninth inning, and the New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 Thursday to complete a four-game sweep. New York is in Kansas City tonight, Chad Green on the mound for the Bombers, first pitch is at 8:15.

 

 

The Toronto Raptors came back from 18 points down to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 105 to 99 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals to take a 3 games to 2 lead as the series moves back to Toronto Saturday night, tip-off is at 8:30. Kawhi Leonard had 35 points to lead Toronto.
