A new deadline today for the new Windham Southeast Unified school district. Residents of Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford and Putney who wish to run for the school board must file petitions with their town clerk by 5 P M. Election for for directors of the new Board will take place on May 21.
A motorcyclist was injured in a collision in Keene Saturday night. 38 year old Matthew Bemis was traveling east on Water Street when he was struck by a Sedan attempting to cross Water Street from Community Way to Grove Street . Bemis was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries to his leg and head. He was transported to Cheshire Medical center and ultimately transported to the Dartmouth Hitchcock medical center. The accident is under investigation by Keene Police Collision Analysis Team.
Vermont state police conducted a distracted driving enforcement effort on Interstate 91 and Route 9 in Windham and Windsor counties Saturday afternoon. Between the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Troopers made 30 stops , issues 17 tickets and handed out 15 warnings. 5 of the tickets were written for using a portable electronic device while driving, and two tickets were issued for texting while driving.
A traffic change near the interstate 91 Williams River Bridge project. The I-91 Exit 6 northbound On-Ramp will be closed for two weeks while the ramp is reconstructed to its original grade. All motorists will follow a signed detoured on Route 5 north to the Exit 7 northbound On-Ramp. The ramp is anticipated to be opened up on April 26. when all traffic will be switched over to the new I-91 Northbound Bridge.
