Hinsdale and Chesterfield are holding town meeting today. Hinsdale residents will be asked to approve a 4 point 2 million dollars municipal budget, atop a 20item warning. Town meeting begins at 10 at Hinsdale High School.
In Chesterfield, a 4.3 million dollar proposal to build a fiber optic broadband network tops the warning. The meeting takes place at 10 at Chesterfield School.

Here’s the latest on mud season in Brattleboro. Public works officials say Gibson Road and Pleasant Valley Road are considered poor, while, several other unpaved roads in town are considered only in fair condition. The Public works department puts out a daily condition report during the spring season.

Vermont state revenue collections slowed in the last month, and were three million dollars below the state’s target. Administration secretary Suzanne Young says the collections were less than one percent off the mark, because the timing of insurance tax receipts were off. Both the Transportation fund and Education fund were just above the predicted numbers.

The Vermont Senate judiciary committee has passed a bill that would establish a 24-hour waiting period on all handgun purchases following a mandatory background check. Supporters say the bill, sponsored by Senators Philip Baruth, Alison Clarkson, and Ruth Hardy, would help address the crisis of gun suicide facing Vermont and provide comfort to survivors and families of victims. Vermont currently requires no waiting period between the time of purchase and the actual physical transfer of a firearm.
A Westminster resident has been charged for an early Friday incident. Vermont state Police say 26 year old David Greenier, committed the offense of domestic assault. Further investigation revealed that he was also in violation of active pretrial conditions of release and probation. Greenier was arrested and transported to the Westminster State Police barracks for processing, and arraigned Friday.
